Derek Schuelein

With the current situation of COVID-19, almost all institutions across the globe have been working hard to implement different models that can help in the progression of work and study. Similarly, the education sector has also introduced new learning models that can make sure students learn in a healthy environment.

Blended Learning

A blended learning system has always existed but it has now become the most common learning model that every school has adopted to regulate the student body.

Blended learning is a model that uses electronic devices and the physical or online appearance of the student and teacher in a classroom. It is a kind of e-Learning that utilizes the latest technology in education.

In simple words, it combines traditional teaching and modern technology into one comprehensive system model that students and teachers can interact with and learn.

Advantages of Blended Learning

Blended learning comes with many advantages which is why many high schools have permanently added this in their teaching model.

It helps students and teachers to be familiar with technology since the world is advancing towards a computerized system. Furthermore, it respects the learning pace of the students as well.

Blended learning is an ideal model that includes all kinds of students, there are different tools and software designed that can facilitate both teachers and students in every kind of situation.

COVID-19 and Blended Learning

The spread of pandemics has prevented students to sit in a classroom together and learn due to social distancing guidelines by WHO. This is where blended learning plays its role to continue learning and education.

In the COVID-19 situation, blended learning has been adopted with the hybrid system in which the students attend school part-time physically and part-time online from home. The students can access all the information about the classroom through different software provided by schools and attend face-to-face classes as well. This minimizes the spread of the disease and balances learning.

Final Words

Blended learning is an easy and convenient model that can be adopted in a short time. It requires training courses for teachers so that they are familiar with the technological complexities.

Although it requires training, it is important as an educational institution to keep up with the world’s advancing technologies to progress as a society. This is why blended learning is important in the high school.

Derek Schuelein

COVID-19 has completely changed the lifestyle and regulation of daily life all around the world. The education sector is also one of the systems that were affected by the pandemic.

To cater to this situation, a blended learning system has been introduced by many high schools to ensure that education remains continuous despite the spread of the disease.

Blended Learning complements the social distancing guidelines by utilizing the technology. Schools should consider adopting blended learning as part of their system. Here are some tips on blended learning in high school.

1.  Easy Accessibility

In a blended learning system, the learning continues even after the class time is over. This means there are different tools and software that make sure that every student can easily access the content of lessons even after the lessons are over.

This is especially important for students who might have bad internet connections and miss the class because of it.

2. Personalization

As we all know, every student is born different. Each student has a different learning pace. Blended learning supports this pace by giving the facility of personalizing the lessons so that the student is able to keep up with his classmates.

Personalization is done by the school based on classroom strategies and plans.

3. Group Activities

In blended learning, each student has their own personal account, but the goal of studying in a classroom in high school is to learn to work together through mutual cooperation. Therefore, blended learning should include group activities that can make the classroom more friendly and cooperative.

4. Tools and Technology

A high school is successful in delivering education to students if the administration knows the right tools and technology that fit the criteria of the classroom.

It is important to know that tools for middle school students are different from high school students because they have different curriculum and learning criteria. The administration must work on providing the best teaching tools to its teachers so that students can learn effectively.

5. Motivation

Whether it’s the teacher or the administration, motivation should come from every department of the high school. In a pandemic, students are bound to feel hopeless, it is the responsibility of the schools to keep them motivated to learn for a thriving future.
