COVID-19 brought a lot of changes in our daily life. The biggest change was the hybrid system in schools to make sure the learning is done in a safe environment.
Hybrid System
Hybrid System is the combination of face-to-face and online interaction in a classroom, in which half of the students take classes from home and the other half take it physically in person.
Hybrid System was not that common in primary and secondary education, as educators believed that face-to-face interaction in a classroom was an important part of learning. But with the given situation of COVID-19, the educators had to decide that a hybrid system was the best way to teach.
Learning Model
The hybrid system is a learning model that utilizes instructional technology. The teachers are trained to use this technology in order to teach students with comfort.
The learning model is developed by the principal and school administration together along with teachers. A good learning model ensures that none of the students are left behind and are assessed rightly, which includes individualized learning and cooperative group projects.
Challenges of Hybrid System
Hybrid System comes with many challenges as it is newly introduced and it takes time for the teachers and students, including parents to be familiar with the technology.
This is especially challenging for primary school children as they cannot sit in one place all the time. The parents have to learn about the platforms and have to sit with children throughout classes as well.
There are internet connection problems, especially in third world countries, students might not have strong internet connections for smooth classes, and they might miss things as well.
For some students, it is hard to stare at the screen for many hours and keep up with assignments.
Solving Hybrid System problems
These challenges can be solved easily if the principal or the education leader works hard to develop and implement the best curriculum and learning model in a hybrid system.
There can be activities and discovery-based learning to improve the interest of students in learning.
Active learning and enthusiasm from the teachers help a lot to motivate students. The more engaged students are, the more active they will be in learning.
Final Words
COVID-19 is a challenging time and during this situation, education has to keep going.
Professional educators have to make an effort for hybrid learning to create the best education system for the students.
